This problem can be exacerbated by a variety of factors, including poor irrigation water quality and prolonged periods of drought or abnormally dry weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A common test to determine whether a soil contains calcium carbonate is a \u201cFizz\u201d test. During this test, a dilute hydrochloric acid solution is poured onto a soil sample. If it \u201cfizzes\u201d and a gas is given off, calcium carbonate is present.
