The GCSAA Conference once again delivered what it does best, bringing together golf course superintendents, industry partners, and leaders from across the turfgrass profession for a week focused on education, innovation, and connection.
Throughout the conference, conversations centered on the challenges and opportunities facing today’s turf managers, from agronomic decision-making and resource management to preparing the next generation of professionals. It was a powerful reminder that while technology and products continue to evolve, the strength of the industry remains rooted in shared knowledge and collaboration.
One of the most meaningful moments of the week was the inaugural Excellence in Mentorship Awards, held in partnership with Golf Course Industry magazine. The awards celebrated individuals who have made a lasting impact by guiding, supporting, and investing in others throughout their careers. The honorees were: Brian Bossert, Dr. Bruce Martin, Collier Miller, Justin Sims, Courtney Young, and John Zimmers. Each person’s story reinforced the critical role mentorship plays in shaping confident leaders, advancing careers, and strengthening the industry. From longtime mentors who have influenced generations of superintendents to emerging leaders committed to paying that guidance forward, the awards highlighted the culture of generosity and professionalism that defines turfgrass management.

As the conference wrapped up, one message was clear: progress in this industry is driven not only by innovation, but by people willing to share their experience, challenge others to grow, and lead by example. We’re proud to celebrate those mentors and grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many dedicated professionals throughout the week.
