We’re digging deep into the world of Aquatrols’ Golf Technical Servies Manager, R&D, Troy Noble. Get to know him better below.

What is your role at Aquatrols?
Golf Technical Services Manager, R&D and PROVE Trial Program Manager
How long have you been with the company?
I started with Aquatrols in November 2024.
Where did you grow up, and what brought you to your current city?
I grew up in Northwest Iowa and attended Iowa State University. From there I spent 5 years in Colorado, 13 years in Massachusetts and currently live in Ankeny, IA.
What does your typical day look like?
Similar to being in the Golf Course Superintendent role, every day is a little different. My current position includes a fair amount of travel setting up trials and visiting with trial partners. When not traveling, my day usually consists of Teams meetings and working on various projects related to trial work.
What drew you to this field, and how did you get started?
When I was accepted into Iowa State University my major was Zoology, but I quickly realized that wasn’t what I wanted to do. I enjoyed Ag classes in high school, specifically the horticulture course, so I changed my major to Horticulture. The summer after my first year of college I worked at Brooks Golf Club in Spirit Lake, IA and quickly realized that the golf industry was where I wanted to be. During my time as Superintendent in Massachusetts, I was fortunate to work as a PROVE Trial Partner testing new products coming to market, which led to my current position with Aquatrols.
What’s your favorite part of the job or most rewarding project you’ve worked on?
I enjoy being able to work closely with Superintendents and Field Managers at finding solutions to solve their day to day problems. We have had several trials that have provided great results for the trial partners. I also enjoying being able to assist the Aquatrols Territory Managers as needed.
How do you see the industry evolving in the next few years?
Technology has become such a big part of the industry. With Ai, robotic mowers and GPS sprayers becoming more and more utilized, its hard to say where we will be in a few years!
Is there a product or innovation from Aquatrols you’re particularly excited about right now?
I’m excited about some of the potential new products and ideas we have in the pipeline! But as far as products available now, Xstatic has been a lot of fun to work with.
Do you have a favorite industry tip or tool?
Not sure this is really a tip, but coming from the golf course superintendent role, I’ve always been a firm believer in taking care of your team. Nothing can be done without them!
If you weren’t in this field, what would you be doing instead?
It’s hard to imagine being in any other field but maybe working with animals in some capacity.
What’s one surprising thing people might not know about you?
My home lawn is not as well kept as it should be!
What is your favorite hobby, activity, or creative outlet?
Spending time with family. I enjoy the outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing, shooting sports. My wife and I recently started playing a bit of pickleball.

Styx
Coffee or tea?
Black coffee/cold brew
